What has been the best part of 2017 for ?

The best part of 2017 for me is being in charge of the chickens because it is fun and the chickens are cute cuddly and soft plus we get eggs.

Jordie Barrett coming to Toko school because he is really really cool.

The country fair because it is fun and there are lots of activities.

What is something you have been proud of in 2017 ?

I have been proud of my times tables because I have been not so good but now I have improved big time.

What do you think that good learners do?

They use poetic language and work as a team.

They also never give up .

What is one way that you show that in class?

You could stay focused and take your time.

What is one Toko Learning Star that you would like to work on and why?

I would like to work on my challenging curriculum because I think I need to work on more challenging work.  

What is one learning goal you are currently working on, what are you doing to achieve it?

I am working on my writing goal which is to use poetic language I am going to achieve this by thinking a bit harder for interesting words.  

If you were going to give yourself a message for learning in 2018, what would it be?

To stay focused.

In maths I am currently learning (how do you feel about this, what are your next steps? Give your parents a rundown of what we do as well)…
In maths I feel alright about my work but sometimes I get a little bit stuck. Also in maths we do questions and activates and play Mathletics.

Big vs Bigger

Big vs Bigger - Complete story from Ministry of Education on Vimeo. The two big bullies, Sean and and Steve Sean is the biggest bully is in Thneedville. He is, as big as a bus. He actually lifted a bus once with his BARE HANDS!!! One day there was a bus on it’s way to school with four kids inside. Sean was standing in the way of the bus then it suddenly stopped and tooted but Sean didn't care. He lifted the bus and threw it down, all the kids fell out looking rather sleepy. Then he picked up one of the kids called Jack Andrew and said “I'm hungry do you have any lunch for me? ”Then Jack said sounding a little anxious“Um, you can have all of my chicken nuggets Sean.” said Jack. “Yum thanks little friend” said Sean. Then an even bigger kid had moved in next door and his name is big Steve. When Big Steve came along he said “Can I smell chicken nuggets, Big Steve wants the chicken nuggets.” But then without saying anything Sean dropped Jack and through the lunch box into his mouth and swallowed, then said “Sorry all gone”. Then Big Steve felt furious then reached into his backpack and pulled out some pink paint and tipped it all over Sean. “ Whoops, my bad,” said Big Steve. Then all the normal sized kids started to giggle. When the kids started laughing Big Steve said,“Oy what are you kids laughing at, watch out or you'll be next. Then all the normal sized kids gasped and stood back. The normal sized kids were getting a bit angry that they were getting bullied but now there were two big kids, double trouble. So the normal kids huddled and made a plan. And then Jack pulled his phone out of his pocket and ordered a special delivery of super inflatable chicken nuggets.About five seconds later the chicken nuggets truck arrived and dropped the delivery off and they ate and ate and ate until the box was empty. So the kids worked together to lift up Steve and Sean.Then they were floating up into space. After they floated way up in the air, Big Steve said “This is all your fault Sean.” “Mine fault, you covered me with pink paint.” said Sean. “If you had given me the chicken nuggets in the first place I wouldn’t have covered you with pink paint, and the little kids wouldn’t have made us blow up.” said Big Steve. So Sean said, we need to help ourselves, we need to pop.” “ Sounds messy.” said Steve. “ Just you wait my friend.” said Sean. So Sean took Steve’s hand and went over to the satellite… then the needles on the satellite made them POP!!! After they popped they went every where and floated back down to Earth. Then Jack said “ Do you want to play Lazer force with us?” “ I’m keen.” said Sean. “ Yeah, cool” said Steve. That was until big Stewart moved in next door………………………….Dun Dun Dun The end

The mystery of the missing robot

Every weekend on Saturday Hemi’s dad reminded him to mow the lawns.”mow the lawns Hemi or you won’t get your pocket money” Hemi’s dad said.Then Hemi grabbed his red wallet and had a look inside but all there was were a few ugly, noisy flies.But just at that moment a splendid idea popped into Hemi’s head he made a robot lawnmower

So that night Hemi went into the shed and found some things to make a robot lawnmower he found his dad's nose hair trimmer!, some old guitar strings to tie it all together, a blender, a pair of scissors, a laser pointer, and an old  computer. That night Hemi went into the shed and started building his robot lawnmower when he finished he said alive!!! but just after that it blew up and Hemi said oh, maybe not quite alive yet. The next morning Hemi got up and dragged his mystery robot onto the lawn and pulled off the sheet. Then he pulled out the remote control and typed in start mower send and the robot awoke and started to mow the lawns.

When the mower was half way through it’s job Hemi had a drink of Fanta and fell asleep in his chair to the sound of the drone. In about half an hour Hemi was woken to the noise of a big crowd yelling ohhhhhhh! Hemi’s robot was nowhere to be seen.

Hemi had to find his robot he ran all down town to search for it until he found the people yelling but they weren’t frustrated they were pleased with his invention and they made their own robot lawn mowers and then there were lawnmower robots all over town.

What I spoke about - My horse Luna. My favourite thing to ride. Some afternoons I brush her and give her pellets. She is brown and white and she is three years old. She is really beautiful and big.I love her so much.

What I did well - I spoke in a clear voice and I didn’t have too many props.I chose a good topic and had a good timing. I got distinction.

What I would do next time - I would have more expression and make more eye contact.

Lost and found

Lost and found This morning mom reminded me to cheek the lost and found so just to make her happy I took a look around .[ jessica] The box was like a stinky mouth whose grin was dark and wide I gulped and took a monster breath then reached my arm inside . [maddy] I dug around without a sound through swirls of clothes and dirt to my delight , the box split out my favroute soccer shirt.[ Charlize] I peered a little deeper down ,and there , to my surprise a little face gazed up at me with with wide and eager eyes . maddy/jess I took a triple double take and saw it was my sister it's sad to think -for several weeks we hadn't even missed her Ted schue

Mid year reflection

My favourite activity this year was - circle time because I like talking about what's going on and playing fun games.

I was helpful to someone else when - I helped them do their work because they didn’t know how to spell a word.

Something I have learned this year was - Some hard maths questions because I’m normally really slow and if I don’t learn them now I won’t know what to do when I’m older.

The piece of work I’m most proud of is - My karakia and reading with teacher.

Something I am looking forward to is - parent teacher interviews.

My next learning step is - To stay more quiet when I’m working.
