My Holiday
We have been practising writing recounts using descriptive language.
My holiday with Casey
In the holidays I went to my friend Casey’s house. It took me a little bit to get used to the place, but once I settled in I was having the best time. Casey has 1 brother and his name is Ben, and their mum is called Olivia, but we call her Oli. Their dad’s name is Mark.
After we turned up mum took some flowers out of the car and gave them to Oli because she had been hurt by a horse. Then we went inside and I saw Casey. We went back outside to play a game of soccer with Casey Ben and Texas their puppy. Texas plays basketball and soccer. Me and Casey won both of our games against Ben and Texas. After we played soccer we went in Ben and Casey’s treehouse.
After lunch we went for a ride on Caseys pony, Madam. My mum took a photo of me riding Mad Dog by myself. Mad Dog is Madam’s nickname. After we each had turns riding Madam by ourselves we rode her bare-back and then put her away.
Then we went inside and played with Caseys toy farm. After a little while me and mum were going to go but I wanted to stay the night. After, I asked to stay the night. Casey had rugby practice so I went too while our mums organized if I was staying the night or not. Casey’s dad is the coach of their rugby team.
When we got back from rugby practice I found out I was staying the night. After a little bit I said bye to mum and she left just before I went to bed. That night in bed we listened to Casey’s radio that tells stories. The radio kept me awake and Casey fell asleep way before me so I turned the radio off.
The next morning I woke up and Casey was already awake. Then later that day we went for another ride on Madam. After a little bit we heard a moooooooo so went to see what it was but we couldn’t see anything. Then Caseys mum was calling us so we went back, but just before we reached the woolshed I had a little trot. Then we went to the horse track. That night I went home.
We have been learning to create posters. We have had to research a poisonous New Zealand Garden plant. We then had to find out the features of a warning poster. We have created posters to warn people about the dangers of some of our New Zealand plants.
poison
Deadly nightshade
Ingesting just two to four berries can kill a child and ten to 20 can kill an adult.

Toko School Boot Camp 2018
Stand up sraight relax and this is how you salute said Mrs Stark and Mrs Fergus. “Now let’s start 2018 Toko School Boot Camp WOO HOO !!!” Alright privates go to your first activities. My group the super sixes went to the damper making group. We started on that but we made the wrong recipe so my group went to my class to wash our ice cream containers and do a different recipe. After we did all of our activities we sorted who was going with what parent. I went with Hayley’s mum.when we got to Te wera we sorted out our cabins and went in and unpacked our bags and set up our beds.
Once we got into our cabin we saw that there was a cupboard so we put some of our stuff in it and took it out the next day. My buddies were Maddy and Haley we also saw that there were hooks on the door. We had three beds in our cabin and a huge round blinding light. Me and Maddy put our school bags on the silver hooks and our big bags under the blue beds our floor was brown wood planks.
On the second to last day of Camp we went kyacking over a farm neer Te wera. Everyone had to do a long walk. After we had been walking for a little while we came across a huge herd of cows. It had two bulls the black one was Angus and the white one was Sarilay. So we had to quietly walks through them. After that we passed some bees it was a humoungously long track. When we got there I saw the kyacks on the kyack stand. Once we got all the kyacks ready the first people got on. They put their life jackets on and got their oars then they were off in the lake the water was dark and gloomy. There was a flock of ducks at the end of the lake. The lake was very very deep. My mum and Jamie w’s mum were launching and every body kept crashing into each other. I had heaps of fun when I went on the lake and Amelia’s mum took some photos of me.
On the last night of camp we played a game of spot light. At the start there were four people in and I was one of them. I found three or four groups of people we had to use our tourches to find people. Everybody used their lights to find a hiding place then they turned them off. It was very dark so it was hard to see and the finders had turns. The people who didn’t get found were winners. We were very happy when we one. Everybody had heaps of fun and hid in the bushes.
The things I enjoyed the most was spot light, kyacking, and the water slide. Camp was really fun and I can’t wait till next year.>
